Minutes of the Committee Meeting of 6th September 2018


Minutes of meeting held on Thursday 6th September in the Buccaneer

  1. Present: Carol Green, Phil Green, Chris Barnett, Jackie Coombs, Colin Cocking, Sue Goodman, Mike Choroszewski, Lesley Smith, Frank Goodman, Ross Hanley, Jean Day

  1. Approval of minutes of committee meeting of July 2018: Approved and ready for publication by Frank (FB/website), Jean (Archives)

  1. Matters arising: All to be covered in agenda items

  1. Youth group meeting: See separate minutes. Addendum the hall is already in use on the original preferred day of Wednesday, it was therefore agreed to hold the sessions on a Friday evening between 6 and 7 pm. Action: Phil to update last year’s email and send to the schools.

  1. “Up the valley”

  • It was felt that probably enough people had expressed an interest for Michele to put a cast together.

  • Frank has looked at the script to see if changes can be made to make it workable with the cast we have,

  • Production dates were confirmed as the week beginning 22nd October with a dress rehearsal on the Wednesday and full performances on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Action: Michele will email people with suggested roles.

  1. Costume storage:

  • The village hall committee have agreed that costumes and props can be stored there until the cellar area of the lower hall is ready for development. The charge would be £15 a quarter. The committee agreed to take up this option in principle and a storage agreement was shared and signed.

  • A date of Sunday 14th October at 10.30am was agreed to move the costumes. Action: Lesley to contact Sue Lemon at the parish council and Lynda Sheasby

  1. Finance: the current balance stands at £3,925.89, which includes payment to Ross for materials to refurbish the chapel undercroft for the storage of the costumes.

  1. Future projects: No further development. Action: Agenda item for October meeting to set audition date for “Passport to Gunnislake’

  1. Any other business: Jean joined the meeting.

  • As part of the on-going poppy project in the village to commemorate the end of the First World War it is hoped to hang the banner and poppies at the front of the Village Hall the vicar has agreed to do a blessing on November 4th. As a community project it is hoped to hold an evening of remembrance, hopefully in the Village Hall, to include WW1 songs, poems and readings. Members of GLAD would be welcome to take part in this. Action: Carol to email Frank re possible dates if the Village Hall is available.

  • Phil has been contacted by Frank, a member of the Community asking whether GLAD may wish to be involved in a project he is planning, “The story of the song”. Action: Phil to get more specific information as to what form the performance would take.

  • GLAD Christmas party – I t was agreed to make this an agenda item for the next meeting.
