  1. Passport to Gunnislake – update/way ahead

Following very successful auditions the cast had had a first read through and a rehearsal schedule had been distributed. Rehearsals will be held either in the Buccaneer or St Anne’s church hall, however there will be a visit to the Village Hall in the near future for actors to familiarise themselves with the working space and planned set up. Costumes will in the main comprise the actors own day-to-day clothes. Some props will be needed and a production meeting involving Sue, Jean, Colin, Carol and Phil will be held on Friday 25th January. It was appreciated that GLAD would need to pay the daily rate for the hall, currently £50 a day, during production week as the hall would be unavailable to the majority of its regular users. The possibility of having tiered seating was discussed Calstock Village Hall to be contacted.

  1. Finance: Since the last meeting the annual membership of £72 had been paid to NODA and further £15 to the village hall for costume storage until the end of April leaving a balance of £3,564.07

  1. Wash up on: Xmas tree Festival and Xmas Party

Both were considered successful and enjoyed by all. Many thanks to Gilly for facilitating the Xmas party in the Buccaneer.

8.Future/Summer projects

It was felt that as the Gunnislake Festival is to be held at the end of June this year it would possibly be too soon after the April show to do another large production. It was suggested that GLAD could do something smaller; this will be discussed at a future meeting. Other suggestions were to revisit ‘Up the Valley’ in the autumn and Frank reported that writing of the Cowboy Panto was going well.

  1. A.O.B

  • Mike had prepared a membership report, which was distributed, to the committee.

  • It was agreed that any new members who had joined for the most recent productions should automatically have their membership renewed until April 2020.

  • Membership fees will remain the same for the forthcoming year.

  • Two new members have been added to the Facebook group bringing the total number of members to 109.

  • It was agreed to remove adverts posted to the group not directly related to GLAD

  • There was discussion as to the best method of communicating production information to cast members and also the future use of the Facebook group as it currently stands – to be revisited at a future meeting.

  • Frank advised that a production of a play by Arthur Miller would be live streamed at the Wharf on May 14th. He will bring more details to the next meeting.

  • Lesley will apply to Albaston Fete on behalf of GLAD for monies towards the purchase of a portable stage for use by GLAD and the wider community.
